We promised we’d shout when something exciting happened — and this is definitely one of those moments. 🚀
2025 has been a big year for UI improvements, with lots of thoughtful tweaks and polish designed to make MyNesting Online faster, clearer, and more enjoyable to use. Here are some of the highlights we’re especially proud of:

More space where it matters

We’ve opened up the interface so you can see more rows in lists and data tables at once, reducing scrolling and helping you stay focused. (Check out the before-and-after images!)

A reimagined importer screen

The importer has had a makeover, giving more breathing room to the file list on the left, making it easier to manage and review your files at a glance.

Better readability, your way

You can now adjust the font size to suit different screen resolutions and personal preferences — clearer, more comfortable viewing for everyone.

Sortable grids
Parts and Sheets grids are now fully sortable, making it quicker to find exactly what you’re looking for:

Sleeker visuals throughout

We’ve applied a series of visual refinements across the app. One of our favourites? The new glass-effect popup dialogs — subtle, modern, and very cool ✨

Smarter drag and drop

Drag and drop now works across grids and provides clearer feedback about what will happen when you drop — small change, big usability win.

Infrastructure Updates
Upgraded our backend nesting services to support ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where nesting onto circles could cause DXF exports to fail. We’ve also resolved a small annoyance where the cursor in the Save As text box would jump around while typing.

Performance & Future Features
Made speed improvements across the app while laying the groundwork for annual plans, upcoming UI updates, and automatic updater functionality.

Preparing for Translations
Our UI refresh is nearly complete and we’re just about ready to roll out support for multiple languages. Translations are coming very soon — watch this space! 🌍

October 2024 – Project Notes

This month, we’ve expanded our Teams feature to let you add notes to projects, making it easy to leave reminders for yourself or communicate with your colleagues. Collaboration just got even better—because we accomplish more when we work together!

We are excited to announce the launch of our Nesting Reports feature, now available on the Business Plan or with a Day-Pass. This powerful tool generates a comprehensive PDF report, summarizing the entire nesting job, each individual nest, and the parts on those nests, complete with labels to streamline post-cutting picking for machine operators.

We’ve been hunting down a few sneaky bugs this time around before our summer vacations.

Fixed bugs:
- Deleting the last saved project in the saved projects page was causing some strange layout behaviour. Now resolved!
- It was not possible to edit a part name in the Parts Grid. A bit of an oversight which we have now sorted!
- Our CRM was no longer being updated when new users sign up. We like to know who is using the service so we definitely needed to fix this. Resolved!
- Some minor account set-up issues for new users have also been fixed. Users themselves wouldn’t have noticed anything unusual but we saw some things that weren’t supposed to be happening … so we fixed them!
- One date/time value was not being sent as Universal Coordinated Time causing the wrong deletion date on some nesting projects in the Unsaved Nests history.
- Changed the description for the Nesting Direction option in the settings page. Not strictly a bug but we needed to make it clear what the option does.

This week, we’ve mostly been continuing on with the translations and the foundations of our new PDF reporting engine with an aim to making it fast, reliable and producing beautiful documents for your viewing pleasure!

Bug Fixes
- It was possible click the buy button twice when purchasing a Day-Pass resulting in duplicate transactions (oops!). We quickly got an emergency fix out for this … and yes, we refunded both the duplicate and the original transaction of the user who reported it so they got their nesting for free!

We’ve also been putting in some groundwork to provide PDF report capabilities in the software.

We’ve been further tweaking our management systems to give us the information needed to successfully run the service.

Bug Fixes:
- Parts library was reporting an incorrect number of parts shown on each page.
- Changing a part name in the parts library the new name would not show until the page was refreshed.
- Editing of sheet dimensions in textbox would cause the cursor to jump to the end of the text instead of the clicked edit position.

This week we’ve updated our cookie compliance to follow new best practice due to recent changes in the law in this area. Users are offered to select which types of cookies they permit or disallow on both the website and within the app itself.

We’ve also been making some changes to our administration dashboard for tidying up expired accounts and keeping the service running smoothly for all active users.

Hey there! This week has been quite the adventure as we’ve delved into sorting out a few pesky bugs in our system:

Ever noticed those text labels in our drawing previews looking a bit wonky? Well, turns out, they were doing some unexpected acrobatics due to a switcheroo in our matrix technologies. Degrees decided to play dress-up as radians, and clockwise became a fan of anticlockwise, resulting in some funky rotations. But fear not! We’ve untangled this mess, ensuring that your text stays where it belongs. NOTE: text in DXF exports was not affected.
Have you ever felt like your pan and zoom levels had a mind of their own, persisting between importer and nesting sessions? Not anymore! We’ve put a stop to this mischievous behaviour, ensuring that each new drawing or nest starts with a fresh perspective.
Here’s a tiny but mighty one: Setting a sheet quantity to zero was oddly cumbersome, requiring you to type it twice. Well, not anymore! We’ve squashed this bug, making it a breeze to input that zero just the once.
But wait, there’s more! We’ve been beefing up our defences with additional automated tests to ensure our code stays on the straight and narrow when we roll out new versions. Because in the world of software, a little extra testing never hurt anybody!

On this “leap day”, we bring you many updates. Here’s a round up of what we’ve been up to.

Now, when accessing saved nest projects, you’ll notice they’re sorted by their most recent updates, a subtle change for easier navigation.
And behind the scenes, our tech wizards have been hard at work fine-tuning our databases. We’ve defined some foreign keys to ensure everything runs smoothly, keeping your data secure and your experience streamlined and hassle-free.
We’re also preparing a sample nesting project to assist new users, scheduled for release in the next week or two.
Additionally, we’ve addressed a few issues. The importer no longer freezes due to conflicts between layer assignments, and the rare occurrence of the Submit button becoming disabled mid-import session has been resolved. We’ve fixed minor inconveniences, such as the account page not waiting after a payment, and ensuring the View All Receipts button displays all receipts in any scenario.
Fixed a bug in the Move Nests to folder pop-up. After renaming a folder in the library, the Move Nests pop-up didn’t show the updated name.
Lastly, various small bugs identified by only our test team have been addressed, underscoring our dedication to providing a polished user experience.

Added Rotate/Mirror functionality to the nesting screen
Added a notification if your importer session times out (there is a 1 hour limitation for your information security).
Fixed CSV import was not taking into account blank rows when reporting the row numbers in the import log.
Fixed a formatting issue in the CSV logs
Refactored our codebase. I hear you cry “What do you mean by that?”. Well, when we write the software, occasionally our developers may lay down some quick experimental code that does the job but won’t be easy to maintain as we progress with further developments. So this is just us making the software reliable, unit tested, and maintainable. Now you know (if you didn’t before)!
Updated the automated testing suite to ensure that none of our new developments affects any of our existing functionality. It’s a quality control thing.
Added some backend logs for various support and payment systems.
More preparation work on the back-end for our upcoming library folders functionality.

We’ve got some fantastic updates to share with you! We’ve taken last week’s work on CSV import and made it even better. Now, you won’t have to go through the hassle of mapping columns each time you import data. We’ve added a nifty feature that saves your column mappings for you. Plus, there’s a handy preview that lets you see the imported data and a log that highlights any issues with specific rows during the import process.
But that’s not all! We’ve also been working on data compression. By shrinking your data into smaller packages, we’re speeding up data transfer within our systems. The result? More data gets processed in less time, and that’s a win-win for everyone!
In addition to these exciting improvements, we’ve made a few tweaks to our admin portals that help us make your experience even smoother. And we’ve sorted out an issue with the timing of trial activations. It’s all in a week’s work, and it comes with lots of love from our team to yours!

Exciting news for this week! We’ve just rolled out a new feature that our users have been eagerly waiting for. You can now import rectangular parts and sheets directly from CSV files, whether you’re using Excel or any other spreadsheet software. This is especially handy if you’re working with rectangular products and want to skip the hassle of creating DXF files. Plus, it’s a time-saver for those who need to bring in rectangular data from external systems.
We’ve also resolved a timing issue with our credit card free trial application process, making it smoother and a more efficient experience for both you and us.
In other exciting news, our development efforts are ongoing as we work diligently to bring you the highly anticipated feature of folders for organizing your library parts and saved nests. Keep an eye out for this fantastic addition, as it’s just around the corner and coming your way very soon!

This week we’ve been re-imagining our checkout layout including new FAQs and free-trial application links. We’ve made it very clear that you can access a free-trial without credit card by quick application process or immediate free trial access by simply adding a credit card.
We’ve further reduced the time required to receive nests – speedy, speedy, speedy!
Very specific bug eliminated! Layer assignments could be set when unselected if a particular combination of keys and clicks were made.
Removed an over-eager error popup when first logging in.
Last week, we mentioned we were adding more advanced “Down for Maintenance” messaging and advance notice. We’ve released that work this week … you won’t get to see our efforts until the next time we have a ground-breaking update but it’ll be worth it!

Cut the chatter and keep it brief! We’ve reduced the size of data we send over the wire to keep things quick.
Squashed a couple of importer bugs when changing scale or import units.
Nobody likes a “Down for Maintenance” message but we do occasionally need to take the service offline to publish our amazing new updates. We know communication is king so we are putting measures in place to provide better advance notice of upcoming updates by email and also in-app status messages when the updates are happening.

We totally get it – not everyone’s into the whole credit card scene for a free trial, right? We’ve been all ears and decided to add a way to enjoy our trial without needing a credit card! All we ask is for a couple of extra bits of info about your business, and we’ll make sure you get completely the same experience as our card carrying friends. Let’s make this trial experience a breeze for everyone!
Pesky polylines with no vertices were preventing otherwise healthy CAD files from importing. Well, we can’t answer that age-old philosophical question “Is a polyline really a polyline if it has no vertices?” but at least files import now.
Fixed. We no longer send you to our company website (www.efficientsoftware.co.uk) when logging out of MyNesting Online although we’d love you to check out our other products too!
We’ve been doing some preparatory work for organizing your library parts and saved nests into folders of your choosing.

Added helpful checks for parts that share the same name into the library.
Added toast pop-ups when saving nesting projects. No, not that kind of toast, these won’t stave off your hunger but they will give you helpful messages and at just the right time too!
Punctuation is usually helpful. In project titles and filenames they certainly aren’t. We’ve fixed issues across the application with punctuation being replaced where it would cause invalid filenames.
We’ve reworked the part library search functionality and added supporting tests on the backend.

Added the ability to include files to your feedback for a speedy resolution by our fantastic support team.
Sheets were not saving with the nest projects. We’ve now convinced them otherwise, bug squashed!
Fixed issue with receipts and refunds (you can’t see that yet but we can).

Nothing particularly interesting to report this week I’m afraid … but we have given all the cogs in the MyNesting machine a good squirt of oil. We’ve been prepping for the possibility of a public launch next month. Fingers crossed!

Improved the overall responsiveness of the application. Slick, slick slick.
Loads of other supporting “behind the scenes” stuff including tweaks to our admin dashboards to keep everything running tickety-boo.
Loads of bugs eliminated this week. We’ve stopped part quantity from flashing randomly. Nobody likes a random flasher.
Fixed issue with part hover events firing without good reason.
Unplaced parts were preventing reopening saved projects. Fixed!
Occasional duplication of parts in the importer. Fixed!
Fixed problems with users with blank names. They shall henceforth be known as Unknown Unknowns.

13 July 2023

The behaviour of selection key modifiers (Ctrl, Shift) in the Parts, Sheets and Library grids was a bit odd and disjointed. We’ve unified all the selection mechanisms to match the familiarity of Windows file explorer.
Fixed the nesting submit button not being enabled again after nesting completed.

We’ve been adding a few bits on the accounts page to support subscription plans, payments and receipts. Alas, for all our efforts this week, there is nothing especially glittery to show you.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) section added.
Fixed import sessions getting out of sync when user made quick successive changes.
Selection of parts in the Parts grid seemed to pick up residual energy of any deleted parts causing selection weirdness. We’re pleased to report that part deletion no longer haunts our grid selection!
Fixed nesting search. It was being a bit temperamental.
We’ve improved our development pipelines.
